About TITC
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tanara Lloyd. I started my creative journey taking classes for cake decorating at Wilson Technical Community College in Wilson, NC in 1997, and would continue to grow and learn more about edible art over the years. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, I transitioned to Charlotte, NC in 2009 to be closed to my grandmother and uncle.

The creation of Thick in the Chips, has really sparked that creative fire in me. There is always a purpose and passion and I have a passion with a purpose. In late 2020 and early 2021, hip-hop lost some real legends (remember, music major). Many of whom never got their “flowers” while here in the physical. I started creating my cookie art to honor these legends. It’s my own little tribute to the art that raised me. From the names of the cookies, to the labels and packaging, I do my best to acknowledge and bring awareness to the artist that brought me and my generation joy and a voice. Many of whom still do.

Mission Statement:
Hip Hop is one of the grandest art forms to ever dazzle the world. It has inspired everything from movies, pop culture and fashion. Food should be no exception. Drawing from Hip-Hop, we birthed the Thick in the Chips cookies. With every bite I want you to reminisce on how it felt the first time you heard “The Greatest Man Alive” by 3XS Dope or how excited you were to cop that Midnight Marauder album from A Tribe Called Quest. Remember the first time you heard L.L. spit about “Pink Cookies In A Plastic Bag, Getting Crushed By A Building”?

2020 and 2021 we lost some heavyweights in the hip hop game and although they gave us the soundtrack to our youth, many of them did not receive their flowers until after they were gone. We want to honor them and give those still with us their flowers. That is what TITC is about. Sampling some familiar flavors to create a delicious new treat and paying homage to our hip-hop legends.
